Time
15:00 -18:00
Room

Wealth and class inequality remain defining issues of our time, shaping economic opportunities, social mobility, and power dynamics across the globe. In this seminar, hosted by the Amsterdam Centre for Inequality Studies (AMCIS), we bring together leading experts to explore the causes and consequences of these inequalities and discuss pathways for change.

The event will consist of a guest lecture by Nora Waitkus and Mike Savage about the increasing relevance of wealth for class analysis. Together, they are uniquely positioned to elaborate on the centrality of wealth to understand contemporary class dynamics, as well as the accumulation, exploitation and exclusion that follow from it. Following their presentation, we will have reflections by Rowan Arundel and Wouter Schakel, on the role of housing dynamics and political effects, respectively.

Following the panel discussion there will be a Q+A session, after which we will reconvene for a borrel from 17-18h.

The event is open to all. Scholars, students, policymakers, and anyone interested in inequality research are encouraged to attend. To register, please use the link provided.
