Eva Zschirnt is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences of the University of Amsterdam, and a member of the programme group “Institutions, Inequalities and Life courses (IIL)”. She obtained her PhD at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and was awarded a two-year Max Weber Fellowship at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy). Before joining the University of Amsterdam, she was postdoc at the University of Wuppertal at the Chair of Migration and Family Sociology. Her research interests focus on social inequalities in the context of migration and integration, the position of migrants and members of minority groups in the labour market, and discrimination in the market place.
Eva holds a BA in European Studies from Maastricht University in the Netherlands and an MA in Migration and Law with distinction from Queen Mary University of London (UK). From 2014-2018, she was a PhD researcher at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland in the framework of ‘nccr – on the move’, a research centre funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation that brings together researchers in migration studies from numerous Swiss universities.
